Group History

The thrash metal band was founded in 1982 by four young musicians: Dani Belange (vocals), Dani D'Amour (guitar), Jean-Yves Terio (bass) and Michel Langevin (drums).

After Nothingface, the band drifted in a more laid-back style on the next two albums - Angel Rat ( 1991 ) and The Outer Limits ( 1993 ). After the release of The Outer Limits , vocalist Dani Belange left the band , leaving the status of the band in doubt. He was replaced by bassist / vocalist Eric Forrest. Some time later, he began to form his own project called E-Force , also, in parallel, he participated in Failing Flesh , leaving Voivod for a short period and leaving for Germany to participate in these projects, in 1998 he had a car accident . [3]

After that, Voivod officially announced the return of vocalist Dani Belange and the band’s new bassist, Jason Newstead , previously a member of Flotsam and Jetsam and Metallica . In 2003 , a new album was released, called simply - Voivod . Belange’s previous vocals, along with the new bassist, provided the foundation for the future Voivod.

Voivod worked on the new album in 2005 , when sad news about the health status of guitarist Dani D'Amour was heard. On August 26, 2005, at the age of forty-five, he died of intestinal cancer . [4] It was at his request that all the guitar developments were used after his death in a future 2006 album called Katorz ( fourteen from French quatorze ). In the summer of 2009, the group released the 12th studio album Infini , which also included songs recorded before the death of Dani D'Amour.

Their new album, Voivod, was called Target Earth . The album should be released before the end of 2012 . The design of Target Earth will use the new logo of the group, developed by Michel Langevin. Target Earth was recorded in January 2012 at the Wild studio, owned by Pierre Remillard and located in the small town of Saint Zenon in the Canadian province of Quebec . The disc will include the band’s first compositions with the new guitarist Daniel “Chevy” Mongrain. [5]
