Shin-Osaka Station ( 新 大阪 駅 Shin-O: Saka-eki ) is a railway station in the Yodogawa district of the Japanese city of Osaka . It is the western terminus of Tokaido-shinkansen and the eastern terminus of Sanyo-shinkansen , although some routes pass through it and do not end there. The station has automatic platform gates and tactile coating .

Shin Osaka is three kilometers from the former Osaka Station . The new station was built in 1964 in order to avoid problems with the construction of Shinkansen lines through the city center. JR Kyoto Line and Midosuji Subway Line connect Shin-Osaka Station with the rest of the stations around the city center.
