About when Gelemund gained power over the gepids, there is no information in historical sources [2] . The previous famous ruler of Gepid was Trazaric , the last mention of which dates back to the year 504 [3] .
Gelemund died of the disease no later than 549 years. He left behind him the only son of Ustrigot , who, due to his childhood, was ousted from power by Torisvint , who himself took the throne of the Gepids. Ostrogoth for a long time unsuccessfully tried to regain his throne, relying on the help of the Lombards , but in the first half of the 550s, according to the terms of the Lombard-Hepid peace concluded after the battle on the Asfeld field , he was killed by order of King Audoin [2] [4] .
Most likely, the daughter of Gelemund was Austrigusa , who in 512 became the second wife of the Wango king of the Lombards [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] .
