Saffaniya Hafji (Safania Hafji) is a gas and oil field in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait . The southern part of the field (Saffania, Arabic. حقل السفانية ) was discovered in 1951 , the northern (Khafji, الخفجي حقل ) - in 1960, developed from 1957 and 1960, respectively.
Deposits at a depth of 1.5-3.4 km. The oil density is 0.87-0.89 g / cm3, the S content is 2-3%.
Geological oil reserves are estimated at 5.5 billion tons. Proven and recoverable oil reserves are estimated at 2 billion tons, gas 327 billion m3.
Oil production in 2016 is 65 million tons.
