Geography
Kozyrevsk is located in the Kamchatka river valley 492 kilometers north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky , 247 kilometers west of the regional center, the village of Ust-Kamchatsk . Near the village is the mouth of the Kreruk River.
History
The first settlements in the area of modern Kozyrevsk appeared in ancient times. This area attracted settlers with an abundance of fish and game.
The village itself dates back to a small settlement of the Itelmen native inhabitants of Kamchatka , which arose at the beginning of the 18th century . Soon after its founding, it received its modern name in honor of the researcher of Kamchatka, Ivan Kozyrevsky . At the same time, a small river flowing near the village began to be called Kozyrevka [3] .
In the future, the village repeatedly changed its location. In the middle of the 18th century, it was moved to the mouth of the Kozyrevka River for more convenient transport links with other settlements. Buildings in the village were often transferred after the spills of the Kamchatka River [3] .
In 1958, Kozyrevsk received the status of an urban-type settlement ; in 2004, it was again transformed into a rural settlement [2] .
