Career

In 1992, Igor began his career at Skonto . That season the Riga club became the champion of Latvia, however Stepanov played only 6 matches for the club. The following seasons he spent in the double . From 1995 to 2000, Stepanov played for Skonto, with whom he won 5 league titles. In the same 1995, Igor made his debut in the national team . In 2000, Arsene Wenger invited Stepanov to Arsenal . For three seasons in the “Gunners”, Stepanov spent only 17 matches, after which he moved to Beveren . In 2004, he made his national team debut at the European Championships . After the European Championship he moved to Grasshoppers , for which he spent two seasons. The season 2007/08 began in the Danish club Esbjerg , but at the beginning of 2008 he moved to Shinnik . In the summer of 2008, he was withdrawn from the Yaroslavl club due to the small number of games in the main team (4 matches in 11 rounds).
