Wachowski made his directorial debut with the movie " Communication " (1996), and gained world fame after creating the fantastic trilogy " The Matrix ".
Life and career
Larry and Andy Wachowski were born into a Polish-American family [1] in Chicago . Their mother was a nurse and their father was a businessman. According to Wachowski, their father was a staunch atheist , and their mother was a former Catholic who converted to shamanism [2] . A peculiar religious atmosphere in the family influenced the future work of the duet [3] .
Wachowski graduated from a primary school in Chicago, Whitney Young High School , known for its curriculum in performing arts and science subjects. They participated in school theater and school television, but were always behind the scenes. Subsequently, Lilly went to Emerson College in Boston , and Lana went to Bard College in upstate New York . Wachowski dropped out of school without completing his education. After that, they took up the construction business and began to develop the idea of the Matrix. Before show business, they worked as carpenters in Chicago, creating comics in their free time [4] .
Rumors about the transgenderism of Lana Wachowski have been published in various publications since the beginning of the 2000s, but at that time Wachowski did not speak out publicly on this subject [5] [6] . Nevertheless, some publications started calling the creative duo Andy and Lana Wachowski [7] , and on the largest informational movie portal imdb.com the page “Larry Wachowski” was renamed to Lana's page [8] . Lama Wachowski made cuming out as a transgender woman in July 2012, becoming the first open transgender person among the largest Hollywood directors [9] [10] . In October 2012, the human rights campaign “ Campaign for Human Rights ” noted the courage of its public coming-out with the presentation of the “Visibility Award” [11] .
Lilly has been married to Alice Blesingheim since 1991. Lana was married to Thea Bloom from 1993 to 2002. In 2002, she began dating Karin Winslow, the domina known by the pseudonym Ilsa Strix. In 2009, women married [2] .
In 2016, in response to numerous threats of outsourcing (forced disclosure of transgender information) by the Daily Mail, Lilly Wachowski also made a public outing as a transgender woman, abandoning her previous name Andy [12] [13] [14] .
