Abbas Douran ( 1950 - 1982 ) - Iranian pilot, hero of the Iran-Iraq war , colonel. From the beginning of the war until 1982 he flew more than 900 sorties. On July 21, 1982, Douran in his F-4 flew to the bombardment of the Al-Dur oil refinery in southern Baghdad . Immediately after the successful bombing, the Doran plane was shot down by Iraqi air defense forces. Douran’s partner had catapulted and was captured, and the colonel himself sent his plane to the center of the Iraqi capital and crashed into an al-Rashid hotel, where a few days later, on the personal initiative of Saddam Hussein , the Non-Aligned Movement was to be held. Thus, Saddam’s plan to demonstrate peace to Iraq has been thwarted. The conference was held in New Delhi .
