Pentax * ist DS, Pentax * ist DS2 and Pentax * ist D differ from subsequent models of Pentax digital SLR cameras by the presence of a TTL sensor for measuring the exposure received from a flash lamp directly during the exposure process [1] . With the use of external flashes that support the TTL mode (not to be confused with the P-TTL mode), getting the right exposure “in one flash” is achieved, without prior measuring.
The built-in flash only works in P-TTL mode, provided the lens “A” is mounted. In all other modes and with all other types of lenses, it produces full flash power, without the possibility of manual adjustment.
