Description
“ Fear and Awe ” might give the impression that I came to Japan as an adult only to fail at work. “Neither Eve nor Adam” will tell you that at the same time and in the same place I was the bride of a very extraordinary Tokyo man.
This text is prompted by life, but not autobiographical, it consists of 238 pages and the action takes place in Japan, the country where Amelie Notomb lived during her childhood. Chronologically, it touches upon events earlier, during and after the events described in Fear and Awe. .
“Neither Eve nor Adam” is a love story that happened with a French-speaking writer and a young Japanese from a good family. Having met her in order to take French lessons from her, Rinri will fall in love with young Amelie (she was then 21 years old), whom he at first mistakenly calls "my mistress" ("ma maîtresse" - my mistress; the word also means "teacher" )
By her own admission, Amelie Notomb never wrote so much about a feeling of falling in love. Finally, as the writer herself says, "for the first time she writes a book where no one seeks to kill anyone!"
