Anatoly Pavlovich Ryabov ( April 16, 1894 [1] , p. Lobaski , Nizhny Novgorod province [2] - May 23, 1938 , Saransk ) - Erzyan linguist , teacher , public figure , professor , author of the Erzyan alphabet on a Latin basis, was repressed in 1938 .

Biographical information
Born in the Erzya village of Lobaski [2] . He graduated from the Pochinok Theological College, Nezhinsky Pedagogical Institute ( 1916 ).
He taught philological disciplines in a teacher’s seminary, pedagogical college of Omsk . In 1922 - 1924 - employee of the Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Department of Education, 1924 - 1930 - methodologist of the Mordovian Bureau (subdivision) of the Council of National Minorities of the RSFSR , employee of the All-Union Central Committee of the New Alphabet under the Council of Nationalities of the USSR Armed Forces . There he developed a draft of the new Erzyan alphabet on a Latin basis ( 1932 ).
In 1934 - 1937 - Head of the Department of Mordovian Languages of the Saransk Agro-Pedagogical Institute.
In June 1937 he was arrested and executed a year later. Rehabilitated in 1956
Research Activities
Research began in the mid-20s. He took part in the First Linguistic Expedition of the USSR Academy of Sciences under the leadership of D.V. Bubrich ( 1927 ), was engaged in identifying the dialect base of the Erzya literary language.
Since the beginning of the 30s. collaborated from a professor-linguist E.D. Polivanov , which influenced the development of his scientific views. Together with him, he wrote the book "Systematic Descriptive Grammar of the Erzya-Mordovian Language", which remained unprinted. Two sections of this book are stored in the archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences ( Prague ).
In the field of Mordovian linguistics, Ryabov is also known as the author of the works: "Mordovian endings 1 and 2 pluralis praesents in objectless conjugation", "On Mordovian formations nomina tewus pluralis of the type kile'k" birch "" (in collection: Doklady AN SSSR, 1928 ) , “On the designation of palatalization in the new alphabet” (in J.: Revolution and writing, 1932 No. 4-5), “On stress in the Erzya-Mordovian language” (ibid.), “Results of language conferences of Mordovia (1933-1935 ) ”(Ibid., 1936 No. 2).
Achievements in Mordovian Linguistics
Ryabov worked on the creation of uniform norms for the Erzya literary language. Prepared 2 draft Erzyan spelling.
He made reports and reports on problems of spelling , morphology and terminology of the Erzyan language at the 1st ( 1933 ), 2nd ( 1934 ), 3rd ( 1935 ) scientific conferences in Saransk.
He also attached great importance to the issues of teaching in Mordovian national schools, and providing them with methodological literature.
He is the author and co-author of the alphabet “Valdo Chi” - “Bright Day” ( 1925 ), “Lysma Straight: Bookwalker Mail Book” - “Spring: a book for reading after the primer” ( 1926 ); study guide “Erzyan language lessons”; school textbooks - “Erzyan cellen grammar (Morphology)” - “Grammar of the Erzyan language (Morphology)” ( 1933 ), “Erzyan cellen grammar (Syntax)” ( 1934 ); bilingual dictionaries - “Erzyan-Ruzon Valkske” - “Erzyan-Russian Dictionary” ( 1930 ), “Ruzyon-Erzian Valkske” - “Russian-Erzyan Dictionary” ( 1931 ).
Ryabov developed and taught a course on modern Erzyan literary language at the Saransk Agro-Pedagogical Institute.
