In the village is the castle of Javier , in which the Catholic Saint Francis Xavier was born. In honor of St. Francis Xavier, every year from March 4 to 12 (the day of the canonization of the saint), Javierada ( Spanish: Javierada ), a nine-day mass pilgrimage to the castle of Javier [1], is held .
