History

It was formed more than 2000 years ago as a fishing village near one of the ports of the Roman Empire . In the late 1950s, it was developed as one of the many tourist centers in Spain.

Monument "Columbus Egg"

The most famous attraction is the Colombian Egg monument, located in the center of the main roundabout at the entrance to the city (in the area of ​​the Passeig de la Mar embankment). Built in the early 1990s, symbolizing the birthplace of Columbus . It is a sculptural image of an egg with an oval-shaped niche in the center, in which a miniature model of the Santa Maria sailing ship is placed.

The Cafe by the Sea , which regularly releases eponymous electronic music collections of the same name, enjoys worldwide popularity.
