Biography
Vasily Rakhmanov was born in 1764; came from a noble family .
He was brought up in the Land gentry cadet corps, from where on February 6, 1785 he was sent to the Tula Infantry Regiment as a lieutenant .
He took part in the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-1791. and the Polish events of 1794 ; for the differences in the latter was on November 26, 1795 awarded the Order of St. George 4th grade

For merits of the Dutch expedition , Rakhmanov June 5, 1799 received the shoulder straps of the colonel.
February 10, 1803 Rakhmanov was transferred to the Kolyvan Musketeer Regiment, June 11 became his commander; and on August 28 of that year he was awarded the rank of major general and was appointed to the post of chief of the Nizov Musketeer Regiment .
He fought with this regiment in the War of the Fourth Coalition ( Golden Sword "For Courage" with diamonds ) and the Russian-Swedish War of 1808-1809. Then he was appointed commandant of Uleaborg.
After Napoleon's invasion of the Russian Empire, he took part in a number of battles of the Patriotic War of 1812 .
After the expulsion of the enemy from Russia, he took part in the foreign campaign of the Russian army and for the siege of the Elbing fortress; was awarded July 31, 1813 the Order of St. George, 3rd class, No. 311

September 11, 1816 Rakhmanov was promoted to lieutenant general for the siege of Danzig .
Vasily Sergeevich Rakhmanov died on November 10, 1816.
