History

The club was founded on May 1, 1906 , but after a while was forced to close. A new birth occurred in 1919 . For the first time in the top division of amateur championships “Chakarita” made its way in 1924 and stayed there until 1940 , that is, speaking already in the framework of professional championships. It took only a year to return and the club did not leave the elite for the next 15 years. Since 1956, the team again performed in the second division, from where it rose in 1959 .

10 years later, Chakarita won its only national trophy - the 1969 Metropolitan. Then the team's results began to decline and by 1980 Chakarita had sunk to the 4th division. Then there was a jerk back to the elite, but in 1984 the club that returned to Example was fined with a loss of 10 points in the championship due to hooligan behavior of fans. The team failed to win back this deficit and Chakarita again flew into the second division. Subsequently, the team basically moved from 2 to 3 division and back. Only in 1999 there was a return to Example, where the Chakarita stayed until 2004 .

Since 2005, the team played in the second division. In the 2008/09 season, the club took 2nd place in the second division of Argentina and won the right to play in the 2009/10 Season Example. However, the team immediately flew out, in the 2011/12 season it took the last place in the Second Division (17th in the relegation table), and then lost in the Nueva Chicago play-offs. In the 2017/18 season, “Chakarita” played in the Argentine Super League, but the team could not keep their place in the elite.

Chakarita’s biggest rival is Atlanta . It was Atlanta fans who gave the Chakarite the nickname Gravediggers because of the proximity of the Chakarita Stadium to the cemetery.
