Natural gas field is a combination of natural gas and gas condensate deposits in a certain territory. Usually takes several hundred kilometers, gas wells are used for production.
The rational development of gas fields is based on the scientific theory of gas movement in a porous medium. The founder of this theory is the academician L. S. Leibenzon (the classical work of this author, “The Movement of Gases in a Porous Medium,” was published in 1929).

Gas Classification
Gas fields are classified into: [1]
- small ones - up to 10 billion m 3 of gas;
- medium - 10 - 100 billion m 3 of gas ( Astriks , Amangeldy );
- large - 100-1000 billion m 3 of gas ( Ormen Lange , Kengan , Hangiran );
- the largest (gigantic) - 1 - 5 trillion m 3 of gas ( Hassi-Rmel , Shah Deniz , Groningen , Dhirubhai );
- unique (supergiant) - 5 trillion m 3 or more ( North / South Pars , Urengoyskoye , Galkynysh ).
