The municipality is part of the Los Filabres-Tabernas district ( mosquitoes ). Covers an area of 281 km². The population is 3,626 people (for 2010 ). Distance 29 km to the provincial capital.

The Tabernas desert is located on the territory of the municipality, in which many spaghetti westerns were shot in the period 1950-1980.

Tabernas Castle
In the city of Tabernas for the filming of the film For a few dollars more was built a typical town for the times of the Wild West . After the end of filming, the scenery was decided to be left, and now the mini-Hollywood amusement park is located here [1] .
