Ojibwei languages - a branch of the Indian languages in the Algonkin subfamily of the Alga family . Distributed in North America ( Canada and the USA ).
They are divided into two groups: Potavatomi (1 language) and Ojibwe proper. The latter, according to various classifications, includes from 1 to 9 languages.

- northern ojibwe (oji-kri, kri-soto, ojibwe of the river Severn) [ojs]

- soto (western / plain ojibwe) [ojw] (Saulteaux)
- Ojibwe proper (central-south) - there are several options for classifying its dialects:
- Ethnologue distinguishes northwestern ojibwe [ojb], central ojibwe [ojc] and chippewa (southwestern, [ciw])
- Freelang Ojibwe distinguishes Central-Northern Ojibwe, Central-South (Wisconsin) Ojibwe, South-western (Minnesota) Ojibwe, North-western Ojibwe (and Ontario Saulteaux) and Northern Ojibwe
- eastern ojibwe [ojg] incl. dialect nipising (South Algonquin), which themselves relate to the Algonquin .
- Ottawa (Odawa) [otw] - often distinguished as a separate subgroup
