Story
Near Bezhin Luga , described by I. S. Turgenev in the story of the same name , where Turgenev used to sit at a fire in a night peasant children, a story connected with the pioneer Stёpka Samokhin occurs.
The basis of this drama was the story of the murder of Pavlik Morozov in the Northern Urals on September 3, 1932 , who reported to the village council, according to official Soviet historiography, about his father's collusion with the enemies of collectivization.

From the history of the creation and recreation of the film
Filming took place including in Turgenev places described in “ Hunter ’s Notes ” - in Chernsky District , which was part of the Moscow Region during filming.
Unassembled material of the film was destroyed by a German bomb during World War II .
The editor Esther Tobach , assembling the draft version of the film “Bezhin Meadow”, retained the unmounted cut-off frames, also eight meters of film were left from the film, the directorial script in two versions, a lot of directorial developments, notes and drawings. The lost tape was restored as a system of photographs from these frames.
