Geography
Gadyachsky district is located in the north of the Poltava region of Ukraine . The Lokhvitsky , Mirgorodsky , Zenkovsky districts of the Poltava region, Akhtyrsky , Lebedinsky and Lipovodolinsky districts of the Sumy region are adjacent to it. The area of the district is 1600 km².
The administrative center of the district is the city of Gadyach .
The rivers Psel , Khorol , Grun , Sukhaya Grunka , Violet , Lyutenka , Verpik , Rudka , Rashevka , Tatarka flow through the area. On the territory of the district there are large lakes Mokhovatoe , Turchinoe , Krugloye , Glubokoe .
Population
The population of the district is 63,679 people ( 2001 ), including urban - 22,267 people, rural - 41,412 people.

The district was formed on March 7, 1923 .

Transport
The T1705 highway and the railway on the Kremenchug-Bakhmach branch run through the district.
Attractions
Pokrovskaya church in Pleshivets , 1906. One of the first attempts of modern (XX century) reproduction of traditional Cossack architecture. The temple was built by architect I. S. Kuznetsov based on the wooden Cossack Cathedral in Novomoskovsk , built in the 18th century. The church was built on the initiative of Archbishop Parthenius (in the world Pamphil Levitsky), who was born in Pleshivets.
Famous People
Korost was born in the district , Tatyana Mikhailovna - Hero of Ukraine .
