He served in the Olonets province with those exiled in the Petrashevsky case V.M. Belozersky and A.P. Balasoglo .
Governor Pisarev wrote to St. Petersburg about the unlawfulness of Makarov Nikolay Yakovlevich, who had fled Petrozavodsk at night and, having safely avoided the chase, came to St. Petersburg to his relative, member of the State Council A.V.
