George Seymour Lyon ( born George Seymour Lyon ; July 27, 1858 , Richmond Hill - May 11, 1938 , Toronto ) - Canadian golfer , champion of the 1904 Summer Olympics .

Lyon was born in Richmond , Ontario on July 27, 1858 . At first he was involved in athletics ( pole vault ), baseball , rugby , football , curling , bowling and cricket . At 38, he began to practice golf . He won the singles tournament at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis . Later, Lyon won the North American Championship three times and the national championship 18 times.
Lyon became president of the Royal Canadian Golf Association in 1923 .
He died on May 11, 1938 in Toronto .
George Lyon was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1955 , and into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 1971 .
