Chahar ( Mong. Tsahar , Chinese. 察哈爾, Cháhār ) - the historical region of Mongolia ; from 1928 to 1952 - a Mongolian province in China with a center in the city of Kalgan ( Zhangjiakou ).
In 1947, the northern part of the Chahar province, inhabited mainly by the Mongols , was included in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia . In 1952, the province of Chahar was abolished, its territory is included in the provinces of Shanxi and Hebei .
