Born in the large family of the merchant P. M. Gusyatnikov. She spent her childhood and youth in Moscow. Since 1834, the Maikov family constantly lives in St. Petersburg. Dostoevsky met Maykova in 1846, when he began to visit the literary salon of her and her husband.
