Biography

Since 1932 he lived in Lisbon with his mother, who broke up with his father. He began to write poetry in 1936 , published in 1939 . In 1943 he moved to Coimbra , where he met with Miguel Torga and Eduard Lawrence . From 1947 for 35 years - employee of the Ministry of Health. In 1950 he settled in Porto, where he lived until the end of his life. In 1990, he opened the Eugenio de Andrade Foundation publishing house in his home.

Creativity

Pantheistic lyrics of Andrade - a fusion of Portuguese song traditions with the imagery of Spanish Baroque and surrealism . He gained wide fame with the release of the book of poems "Hands and Fruits" ( 1948 ), the detailed "Notes" dedicated to the book of Georges de Seine .
