Story
After the divorce, Lucy Emerson and her two teenage sons, Michael and Sam, travel from Phoenix to the small California fictional city of Santa Carla to Lucy's eccentric father who makes stuffed animals. However, the town has its own problems - such as raids by a gang of bikers and unexplained disappearances.
Michael, Lucy's eldest son, enters the gang of bikers because of his passion for Star - the only girl in the gang, which causes competition with their leader David. David constantly involves Michael in various dangerous adventures - like a fast bike ride in the direction of a cliff or hovering under a railway bridge when the train is on it. Including, one day, David offers Michael a bite to eat - he gives him rice, and Michael sees larvae in this, then spaghetti, and Michael sees worms, as a result of which he becomes the object of ridicule. After that, Michael, despite Star's warnings, drinks from a strange bottle, believing that there is wine. Soon, he begins to show signs of vampirism : he sleeps all day, becomes sensitive to sunlight, and his reflection in the mirror is transparent. Michael spends all his nights with a gang of bikers until they show that they are really vampires when they kill a group of teenagers at a night outing. David explains to Michael that he needs to feed in order to survive, but Michael refuses to kill and leaves the gang.
At this time, his younger brother Sam meets his brothers Edgar and Alan Frog, teenage comic book sellers who consider themselves vampire hunters. They give Sam various tips, mostly gleaned from comics.
Lucy meets Max, the intelligent owner of a video cassette store, who is trying to get close to her. Sam suspects that Max is a vampire, so when he arrives at Lucy's house for dinner, he arranges a series of ridiculous tests for the guest, which causes his mother to be annoyed.
When Sam is convinced that Michael is a vampire, to save his brother, he offers to kill the supreme vampire (who is considered to be David), which will allow half-vampires to return to normal life. Sam, Michael and the Frogi brothers make their way into the vampire lair, from where Michael carries Star and her younger brother. At this time, the Frogi brothers are trying to kill real vampires, but after the death of Marco, the youngest of the vampires, David wakes up and promises to kill the guys at night. At night, he and the two remaining associates attack the Emerson home. The owners have to defend themselves, and quite successfully - Nanook, Sam’s dog, knocks Paul into the bathtub with holy water, causing him to explode, Sam himself gets an arrow into the heart of Duane. Michael has to endure a duel with David, whom he puts on the horns lying on the shelf of his grandfather. At the same time, David's body externally remains intact, as the Frogi brothers warned that not a single vampire dies the same way. However, after the death of all vampires, the normalization of the state of Michael and Star does not occur.
At this time, Lucy and Max drive up to the house. Here Max reveals that the supreme vampire is really him. And he is not going to abandon his plan to convert Lucy and her children into vampires. However, at that moment, breaking the wall, Grandfather Emerson enters the house in a jeep, who directs one of the stake in the fence to Max. Max explodes. After that, grandfather takes pops from the fridge and casually remarks: "One thing in Santa Carla I could never digest ... .. damn vampires."

- In 1987, the film received the Saturn Award as the best horror film of the year.
- Corey Feldman received the award for best young actor in a horror movie.
Impact
According to researchers Lauren Goodled and Michael Bibby, the film contributed to the popularization of the Gothic subculture in the United States, since vampires, presented in it as negative characters, aroused much more sympathy among young viewers than the relatively faded main characters [6] . The same point of view is shared by journalist Liisa Laduser, author of the Gothic Encyclopedia, indicating that the picture made vampires “cool” in the eyes of young people and became a real hit for a whole generation [7] .
It was the colorful vampire bikers who first appeared in The Lost Guys that inspired the developers of the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade to create one of the Camarilla clans - Bruch, aggressive vampire rebels and anarchists [8] .
The 69 Eyes group wrote the song Lost Boys based on the film and shot a video on it containing many references to the film.
Continuation
In 2008, the sequel “ Lost Guys: The Tribe ” was released, starring Corey Feldman, the actor who played Edgar Frog.
