Wolf Lepenis ( German: Wolf Lepenies , January 11, 1941 , Allenstein , East Prussia , now Poland ) is a German sociologist .

Biography
After World War II, the family moved to Koblenz . He studied philosophy and sociology at the University of Münster . In 1970 he defended his thesis at the Free University of Berlin . He taught in Paris , Princeton . Since 1984 at the Free University of Berlin . Since 2006 - Professor Emeritus.
Proceedings
The areas of scientific interest of Lepenis are the sociology of knowledge , the sociology and anthropology of culture, the history of sociology. Its theme is the formation of the modern (modern) era, expressed in the emergence of a layer of intellectuals, the formation of the institute of literature, the corps of social sciences, the historical approach in the humanities, the concepts of culture , nature , history .
