History
In the last 9 championships of Slovakia, “илиilina” only once fell below second place (fourth in the 2005/06 season). Zilina scored the most points in all the championships of Slovakia since 1993 (881 points), 15 points ahead of the other 5-time champion of Slovakia (since 1993) - Bratislava Slovan . Zhilina only flew out of the highest Slovak division (in the 1994/95 season), but managed to immediately return.
In the 2009/10 season, the club became the champion of Slovakia, gaining 73 points in 33 matches, and 3 points ahead of Slovan. Zilina scored the most (59 goals) and conceded fewer (17 goals) of all other clubs.
Twice in a row striker "Zilina" Marek Mintal became the top scorer in the championship of Slovakia (2001/02 and 2002/03).
Despite very successful performances in the championships of Slovakia, “Жilina” never in its history reached the final of the Slovak Cup .
In the 1960/61 season, Zilina, which was then called Dynamo, became the finalist of the first Czechoslovak Cup , where it lost in Olomouc to Prague's Duke with a score of 0: 3.
Eurocups
In Eurocups, илиilina made its debut in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup next season 1961/62, as the holder of the Dukla Cup also won the Czechoslovak Championship and played in the UEFA Champions Cup, and the finalist of the national cup won her place in the Cup. In the 1/8 finals, “Zilina” outplayed the Greek “Olympiacos” (1: 0 at home and 3: 2 away). In the quarter-finals in February 1962, Zilina met with the Italian Fiorentina . In the home match, the Slovaks were 3-1, but 5 minutes before the end of the match Fiorentina managed to score 1 goal. In Florence, after 6 days, the hosts won 2-0 and went on.
The next time in Eurocups under the auspices of UEFA, “илиilina” took part only 35 years later - in the Intertoto Cup 1997. In 1960-1980, илиilina sometimes took part in the International Mitropa Cup (and twice took second place there), as well as in the Intertoto Cup, which was then played not under the auspices of UEFA.
UEFA Champions League 2010/11
In the 2010/11 season, Zilina managed to enter the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in her history. In the second qualifying round, илиilina passed the champion of Malta Birkirkaru (0: 1 away and 3: 0 at home), in the third qualifying round, the Slovak club beat the champion of Bulgaria Litex (1: 1 away and 3: 1 at home, at the same time, the Zhilina home was 0: 1). In the decisive qualifying round, илиilina met with the Czech champion Sparta of Prague. Zilina managed to win both matches: first, with a score of 2: 0, the Slovak club won away in Prague, and then won 1-0 at home.
During the draw, Zhilina, which had the penultimate rating among all the participants in the group stage, ended up in the 4th, the weakest basket. Following the draw, the Slovak club in group F plays with Chelsea , Marseille Olimpik and Moscow Spartak . In the first match at the Zhilina home stadium, Chelsea were defeated with a score of 1: 4, and in the second in Moscow Spartak - 0: 3. This was followed by two defeats from Marseille (0: 1 in Marseille, and 0: 7 at the stadium "Under Dubnem"). After that, “Zilina” took home the Moscow “Spartak”, where “Spartak” won 2-1.
