Vladimir Valentinovich Varennikov (born January 4, 1955 , Kandalaksha , Murmansk Region ) is the president of the International League for the Protection of Human Dignity and Security, the head of the ONPO Rodina department for work with military personnel, law enforcement agencies and family members, and a retired lieutenant general.

Biography
Born on January 4, 1955 in the city of Kandalaksha, Murmansk region . The son of Army General Valentin Ivanovich Varennikov . He lived with his father for fifteen years in the North, changed six schools (due to a change in his father’s duty stations).
Despite the fact that his parents were against military service, he entered the Moscow Higher Combined Arms School, from which he was graduated as an officer in 1976 . Further service took place in the Baltic and Belarusian military districts, commanding a platoon, company and battalion.
In 1984 he became a student of the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . After its graduation in 1986, he held the positions of deputy and commander of a regiment, first in the Southern Group of Forces, then in the Odessa Military District. Seeing that his father went to Afghanistan, he filed a report. The first report reached the Commander-in-Chief of the South-West Strategic Direction of Army General I. A. Gerasimov. Having not received an answer, he addressed with a direct report to the head of the Main Directorate of Personnel — Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR Army General V. S. Sukhorukov. The report gave a positive result. Thus, being the commander of a motorized rifle regiment of the 40th army, Colonel Varennikov participated in the war for two years.
After the trip, he served as deputy commander of the 201st Infantry Division in Dushanbe ( Turkestan Military District ), then was transferred to the Far Eastern Military District on about. Sakhalin .
In 1993 - 1995 he studied at the Military Academy of the General Staff. Upon completion, he served in the Far East as deputy commander of the army corps. First, in Kamchatka , he oversaw Chukotka , then on Sakhalin . Recently, he commanded the 68th Army Corps in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
In 2002-2003 , he was the Federal Inspector for the Sakhalin Region of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District .
In the fall of 2003, he headed the electoral bloc "Our Homeland - Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands" in elections in the Sakhalin Oblast. Bloc V. Varennikov won the election to the Legislative Assembly of the region, ahead of other parties and associations. In those same years, he was chairman of the board of the Sakhalin regional association of the All-Russian public organization “People's Patriotic Association“ Rodina ””.
Since 2006, he heads the department of ONGO “Rodina” for work with military personnel, law enforcement agencies and family members.
In 2007, he was elected a member of the House of Representatives of the Union of Supporters of the Fair Russia: Homeland / Retired / Life Party (USSR).
