History
The development of the village is associated with the mining of brown coal that began after the end of World War II (the development of deposits began before the war, but due to the approach of the Nazis the mines were flooded). The initial name of the settlement is Emergency. Various sources associate today's name with either the name of the village of Poplevina or the Poplevinsky coal deposit. [2]
Coal mining in the village was completely stopped in the late 1980s.
The settlement received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1950, since 2009 - a rural-type settlement.
