Geographic data
- Total area: 234.4 km²
- Location: southwestern part of the Monastyrshchinsky district
- Borders:
- in the northeast - with the Novomikhailovsky rural settlement
- in the southeast and south - with the Dobroselsky rural settlement
- in the west - with the Republic of Belarus
- in the north - with the Krasninsky district .
The Vikhra and Gorodnya rivers flow through the settlement. On the territory of the settlement in the village of Andrusovo, the Andrusovo truce of 1667 was concluded.
History
The status and boundaries of the rural settlement are established by the Law of Smolensk region dated December 2, 2004 No. 89-z “On granting the status of the municipal district of the municipality“ Monastyrshchinsky district ”of the Smolensk region, on establishing the boundaries of the municipalities whose territories are part of it, and providing them with the corresponding status ” [2] .
The law of Smolensk region dated May 28, 2015 No. 78-z was transformed by combining Dobroselskoe and Tatar rural settlements into a Tatar rural settlement with an administrative center in the village of Tatarsk [3] .
