History
The history of the club began in 2003, when the famous Latvian coach Vladimir Belyaev and a football agent, a former Daugava player, Andrei Bakharev decided to restore the lost traditions of the Riga Daugava . The structural division "Daugava Football Club" was created at the sports agency "BALTIC SERVICE". The club was registered as an independent legal entity in 2005. Having started working with 12-13-year-old boys in 2003 (footballers born in 1990), the Daugava team made their way to the Latvian Football High Division already in 2009, while training at the club’s football school more than 200 children. Since 2009 Vladimir Pachko worked as a head coach at the club, also a former Daugava player who played for the club in the 80s of the 20th century.
In the season of 2015, the club took 3rd place in the First League . In the winter of 2016, when it became known about Skonto ’s problems with obtaining the LFF-A license necessary for participation in the Premier League , and about the refusal of the club, which took 2nd place in the First League last season - Valmiera Glass , from the opportunity to qualify for an appropriate license, Riga Football School became a contender for participation in the Major League [2] .
According to the decision of the LFF Club Licensing Commission of January 29, 2016, the Riga Football School could obtain a LFF-A license if Skonto did not appeal the decision not to issue a license, or if an appeal was filed, but rejected [3] . The RFSH could submit the documents required for the LFF-A license before February 5.
On February 11, 2016, the LFF Appeals Commission rejected the Skonto appeal. On the same day, the LFF Commission on Club Licensing held a meeting at which the LFF-A license was awarded to the Riga Football School [4] . Thus, the club received the right to play in the Major League .
