Charts and public perception
The album was less successful than the previous five records, and the main hit of the album, “In 100 Years”, reached only the thirtieth place in the German music chart. This happened for several reasons. The main one was the lack of promotion in support of the album and the single, since both releases were actually made after the breakup of the band. The tension in the relationship between Bohlen and Anders was so serious that there could be no joint talk at that moment. In addition, even before the release of the album, Dieter Bohlen presented to the public his new solo project “ Blue System ” and the single “ Sorry Little Sarah ”, with which Bohlen reached 13th place in the charts. Another reason for the commercial failure of the album was the scandalous reputation of Modern Talking and Thomas Anders in Germany. [one]
Creating an album
The musical material written for the 6th album was different from the previous work of the group. It raises themes of war and violence (" In 100 Years ", "Who Will Save The World"). Locomotion Tango was released as a single in the Scandinavian countries in 1988. Also on the album there is a Christmas song “It's Christmas”, recorded with a large children's choir. The album ends with a short a-cappella reprise for the song “ In 100 Years ”.
