His parents are from Cameroon . Cameroon team captain Rigober Song once said about Itange in an interview with French Canal Plus as follows: “This guy has a sense of rhythm.”
In 2006, his name was on the list of candidates for the first national team of France .
Itange was signed by Liverpool on August 9, 2007. The head coach of the team Rafael Benitez took him as a successor to the main goalkeeper reds » Pepe Reina . Benitez had to urgently look for a goalkeeper, since Jerzy Dudek left Liverpool on July 1, 2007 and moved to Real Madrid , Daniele Padelli , who spent the second half of the previous season in Liverpool, didn’t play the Reds coaching staff impressed and returned back to Sampdoria , and Scott Carson unexpectedly asked him to send him on a one-year lease to Aston Villa .
Itange made his debut in Liverpool’s first team on September 25 in a League Cup match against Reading , in which his club won 4–2 thanks to a goal from Yossi Benayoun and a hat-trick by Fernando Torres . The second match for him was also a duel for the League Cup, this time against Cardiff City . For the third time in this tournament, Ethange entered the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge , in which Liverpool lost 0-2, despite the brilliant play of the French goalkeeper.
Charles Itange stood at the gates and in four Liverpool matches in the FA Cup - in two games of the Third round against Luton Town (1: 1 and 5: 0 in the replay), as well as in the Fourth round match against the amateur club “ Haven and End” Waterluville ”(5: 2). His last outing on the field with Liverpool was the game of the Fifth round of the FA Cup against Barnsley at Anfield , in which Liverpool unexpectedly lost 1: 2.
In the summer of 2008, Charles intended to leave Liverpool, especially since the club invited Diego Cavalieri to his place, but none of the possible transitions of the Frenchman ( Galatasaray and Paris Saint-Germain were among the most likely buyers) did not take place. In the 2008/09 season, he continued to be on the team, but his chances of getting into the squad even for the League Cup match were not great, and the club’s application for the Champions League did not contain four names of goalkeepers .
In April 2009, the name Itange was at the center of the scandal when, at a ceremony marking the twentieth anniversary of the Hillsboro tragedy , Charles showed complete disrespect for the memory of the people who died on April 15, 1989, trying to make teammates laugh . As a result, the French goalkeeper was suspended for some time from training, and the club began an internal investigation of the incident . This episode drew a final line under the career of Ethange in Liverpool, as it became obvious that he would definitely not continue playing for the Reds.
On August 30, 2009, there were reports that Itange could go to the Greek Kavala , but it was not reported whether it would be a permanent transfer or a rental for the entire season . On December 8, the official website of the English club announced the termination of the contract with the French goalkeeper, who signed an agreement for two and a half years with the Greek Atromitos, whose player will officially become January 1, 2011 . At the end of 2017 was put up for transfer .
