At the 1904 Games in St. Louis, Kangler first competed in tug of war. His team took third place and won bronze medals.
Then he took part in weightlifting competitions. In the clean and jerk with both hands, he took third place with a score of 79.61 kg. After all attempts, Kangler took the last place, but since only three athletes participated in all, he received a bronze award.
The last sport Kangler played was wrestling, and in it he competed only in the category over 71.7 kg [1] . He defeated Joseph Dilg in the semifinals, but lost to Bernhuff Hensen in the final and received a silver medal.
