Born in 1950 in Budapest in the aristocratic family of Esterhazy . His grandfather, Count Moritz Esterhazy , briefly served as Prime Minister of Hungary . Father - Count Matyash Esterhazy (1919-1998), mother - Irene Magdolna Magnyoki (1916-1980). Brother, born (b. 1956), footballer playing for Hungary . He was married to Reen Margit (born 1952), raised four children.
