Rowing competitions at the 1988 Summer Olympics were held from September 19 to 25 . At the tournament, 14 sets of medals were played: 8 for men and 6 for women. In total, 592 athletes from 38 countries took part in the competition. These were the last Games, when women held competitions in four oar with steering. In 1992, instead of this discipline, the competition included four-wing swing competitions without a steering.
