Clip
In the video clip, Spears appears as a slave of music that dances all day, until she and the other dancers sweat and weaken from dehydration. Making them search for water, Spears stands in front of a mirror by the sink. Two alternative versions of the video clip can be found on the Greatest Hits DVD : My Prerogative , released on November 9, 2004 [1] .
The clip was nominated in three categories at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards - for Best Female Video, Best Dance Video and Best Choreography. The clip also took first place in the list of “50 Sexiest Music Videos of All Time” by MuchMusic [2] .
Live Performance
Spears first performed “I'm a Slave 4 U” publicly on September 6, 2001 at the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. [3] Along with dancing in a very frank outfit, the audience was struck by the participation in the number of exotic animals, including a white tiger and a live albino, as well as a Burmese python on the shoulders of the singer (the appearance of the singer in front of the audience with a snake on her shoulders became one of the most famous images in Spears' career) . In August 2008 , the MTV Network channel named Spears' 2001 performance the most memorable moment in the history of VMA [4] .
