Story
Moomin's birthday is approaching. Sniff and Moomin go to the seashore along a new path. On the shore, Sniff, following the Monkey (Kitten), finds a grotto. By evening, they return home, and soon the downpour begins. At night, the philosopher Muskrat comes to the Moomin house and remains to live there, since the Moomin dad accidentally destroyed his hole during the construction of the bridge. That night, the Muskrat tells that this rain is unnatural, that it has a hunch, and that a comet will come soon, which should destroy the world, so there is no point in it.
The Moomin decides to go along with Sniff on a raft to the Lonely Mountains, where the observatory is located, and learn more about the comet from scientists.
On the way, they meet Snusmumrik , who joins them. Not without adventure, all three get to the Lonely Mountains.
At the observatory, travelers will find out that the comet really rushes to Earth and a catastrophe will occur literally in a few days. The company urgently goes home. On the way, the Moomin troll saves from the poisonous bush Froken Snork and her brother Snork, who also join the company and continue on their way to Mumi Dol.
On the way home, they experience a series of adventures, cross the dried sea on stilts, meet with Hemul , a philatelist who is also taken with him.
Travelers catch up with comets in Moomin, where they tell about all their adventures, Moomin-mom and Moomin-dad. It was decided to hide from the comet in the grotto that Sniff found. The comet should appear in the evening of the same day. And when everyone has already moved to the grotto and the comet remains only a few minutes, the Moomin recalls the monkey / kitten. He rushes in search, finds her / him, and they return to the grotto at the last moment. The comet did not collide with the Earth, but passed by it. To everyone’s joy, life in Mumi-dol continues and returns to normal.
