Jorge Luis Prats Soca ( Spanish: Jorge Luis Prats Soca ; born July 3, 1956 , Camaguey ) is a Cuban pianist .

He graduated from the Cuban Higher Institute of Art ( 1976 ), where among his mentors were Cesar Perez Centenat and Margot Rojas Mendoza . Then he studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Rudolf Kerer , at the Paris Conservatory under Magda Tagliaferro and at the Vienna Academy of Music under Paul Badura-Skoda .

In 1977 , he won the first prize of the Marguerite Long and Jacques Thibault International Competition in Paris, and also received special prizes for the performance of works by Maurice Ravel and Andre Zholive . He was awarded a number of Cuban state awards, including the Cuban State Prize ( 2004 ).

Prats made a number of recordings, among which the sketches of Alexander Scriabin stand out. Over the years, he taught in Havana, Bogota , Mexico City , Cordoba and Toronto . He currently lives in the United States in the city of Hialia .
