Biography
Born in Transylvania , in the family of a bank employee. Belonged to the Hungarian minority in Romania. He studied at the Reformed school. In 1952 he was charged with crimes against the state (distributed leaflets), spent two years in prison. After the liberation of the year, he worked in a factory. He graduated from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Cluj, but did not become a priest, served in the church archive, and worked as a translator in the first half of the 1960s.
The first story and book of short stories published in 1965 . He became a member of the Writers' Union of Romania. In 1982 he moved to Hungary, settled in Budapest . He worked in a publishing house. He became widely known for his grotesque and fantastic novel "The Zone of Sinistra" ( 1992 ), translated into many languages. A number of works by the writer filmed.

Prizes of Attila Jozsef ( 1986 ), Tibor Deri ( 1989 , 1992 ), Lajos Kossuth ( 2003 ) and other awards. Bodor's book, Plus or Minus, was filmed by Zoltan Fabri for one day .
