On the island
In a semi-unconscious state, Desmond was dragged from the coast to the Swan station by a man in a biological protection suit, who later called himself Calvin. In “The Swan,” Calvin said the external environment was contaminated with a mysterious disease that he might have been infected with. Calvin gave Desmond the vaccine labeled Numbers and told him to administer it every 10 days. Desmond mastered the “push button” operation, and repeatedly watched the Swan Orientation film, which generated many questions from him, most of which Kelvin did not answer.
Two years later, Kelvin showed Desmond the sequence of actions that needed to be done so that the doors in the bunker went down. Kelvin used this to finish drawing an invisible map begun by his previous partner on duty at Lebed Station, Radzinsky. The next night, Calvin explained to Desmond the essence of the phenomenon that occurs every 108 minutes in the bunker and showed the safety key, which he always wore, but would never dare to use. Desmond begins to torment visions that Charlie will die. First, Desmond pulled Claire out of the water, if Charlie did it, he would drown. Then he puts a lightning rod next to Charlie's tent - if he had not put it, lightning would have struck Charlie. Then Desmond saves him many more times. Once Charlie begins to suspect something and Desmond tells him that no matter how hard he tries, Charlie will die anyway. Desmond tells him about his new vision - Charlie will drown at the Dharma station and says that if he dies, Claire and Aaron will get out of the Island. Charlie says he's ready for anything for them. They are sailing to the Mirror Station. Charlie stuns Desmond and jumps into the water, leaving a note for Claire in his pocket. (“ Favorites ”, episode 21 of the 3rd season) When Charlie was already at the station, Ben found out about this and sent Mikhail Bakunin to them. He from the shore began to shoot at Desmond, he jumped into the water and swam to Charlie. It turns out that Charlie was captured by two girls from the Others - Bonnie and Greta. They tied him up. Bakunin arrives at the station and kills the girls. But then Desmond appears and shoots the harpoon to Michael in the heart, he falls dead. Bonnie is already dead, and Greta reports the code in order to go into the radio room and then also dies. Desmond sees that Michael is gone, which means he is still alive. Charlie contacts Penelope Widmore , Desmond's girlfriend. She says the ship Kahana was not sent by her. Desmond runs to Charlie to talk with Penny, but here Michael knocks on the window and throws a grenade into the cockpit, while undermining himself. Charlie closes the door and writes in his hand: "This is not Penny's ship," and then sinks. (“ Through the Looking Glass ”, episode 22 of the 3rd season)
After death, Charlie Desmond comes ashore, where are Said, Bernard, Gene, Hurley, Sawyer and Juliet. He talks about what happened and about Charlie's death, which leads Hurley to great sadness. He says that there are impostors on the ship and that Jack needs to be stopped, but Said said that a signal has already been sent. After the survivors are divided into two groups, Desmond goes with Jack's group.
Days later, a science team arrives on the island from the ship. Their helicopter breaks, but Said says that it can still be repaired. Said is doing the work. The pilot says that the helicopter will not master many, so Desmond and Said fly, who take Naomi’s corpse with them. After Desmond jumps on time on a ship: falling into the past, he meets Daniel Faraday . They also see on the ship, Michael Dawson, who returned to die. When a bomb was installed on the ship, Desmond, Michael and Gene tried to defuse it, Michael told them to run and that he could handle it. Desmond crashes into a helicopter and flies off with the Six Osheanik, and the ship explodes, which leads to the death of Michael. Jin survives.
After the island
But soon due to lack of fuel the helicopter falls. Despite a serious accident and a helicopter strike on water, everyone survives. But the island disappeared from the horizon. Their drifting liferaft finds a ship. This is a rescue ship hired by Penelope, Desmond's bride looking for him. Penelope helps survivors fine-tune their version of Flight 815 crash, where only six survived.
Three years later, Penelope and Desmond already have a son named Charlie.
Once Desmond has a dream in which he was still in the bunker. Daniel Faraday comes to him and says that everyone who has stayed on the island needs help and asks to find his mother. Desmond is sure that this is not a dream, but a memory, although he did not remember it before. He travels to Oxford University , but discovers that all references to Faraday from the archives are erased. A local cleaner tells him that the information about Faraday was deleted after what he did with Theresa Spencer. Arriving at Theresa's house, he sees that she is in a coma, and her sister Abigail says that Theresa is alive only thanks to the care of Charles Widmore . Desmond arrives at Widmore's office and demands to tell him where Faraday's mother is. Surprisingly, Charles almost immediately gives her her address in Los Angeles . Arriving at the indicated address in the church, Desmond meets Jack, Song and Ben. Eloise Hawking was waiting for them inside, she was the mother of Faraday. From her conversation with the trinity, he realizes that they are going to return to the island. Desmond is shocked by this and is about to leave, but Eloise says that the island is not yet ready to part with it. Desmond loses his temper, advises Jack not to listen to her, and leaves.
A little later Ben finds them with Penelope, shoots Desmond in the shoulder and wants to kill Penny, but sees their son and changes his mind. Then Desmond attacks him, beats him and throws him from the pier into the water. He is taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he is successfully operated on. Soon, Charles Widmore abducts him from the hospital and brings him back to the island on a submarine.
On the island again
Having woken up on the island in the Hydra infirmary, he does not understand where Penny is and is calling. Widmore comes to him and talks about how he abducted him and returned to the island. Enraged, Desmond pounces on him and hits him with a dropper stand until he is pulled by the people of Widmore. Desmond is thrown under electromagnetic radiation, but he survives. Later Said comes for him and takes with him. Said binds him to a tree and leads a man in black. He leads Desmond to the well and throws there. The next day, the Man in Black orders Said to go and kill Desmond - and then he will fulfill what Said promised. Said goes to the well and takes aim at Desmond. Desmond asks: "What did the Man in black promise you?" Said replies: "Return the beloved woman." Desmond asks: “And what will you tell her when she asks how you returned her?” ... Upon returning to the camp, Locke asks Said about the assignment, to which he receives an answer that there can be no other way. However, in a submarine episode, before blowing himself up with a bomb placed in Jack Locke’s backpack, Said tells Jack that Desmond is sitting in the well and needs to be pulled out as he is important. Sawyer goes to the well to get Desmond out, but he encounters Locke and Ben near the empty well. Rose and Bernard freed Desmond and brought them to his hut. However, Locke finds them and, under the threat of killing a married couple, forces Desmond to go with him. Locke and Jack groups meet and walk together to the light source. Desmond destroys the source, an earthquake begins, but Locke becomes mortal. After the murder of Locke, Jack goes down to get everything back and finds Desmond, who offers Jack to be the one who returns everything to its place. Jack says that Desmond needs to return to his wife and child, ties with a rope instead of himself, and Hugo and Ben lift him upstairs.
After death
Here Desmond is the right hand of Charles Widmore . Lives work, no personal life. During the flight from Sydney to Los Angeles, he sat next to Jack Shepard . On leaving the plane, at the airport, she meets Hugo Reyes and Claire Littleton , helping her to get her bag and saying that she will have a boy. Widmore instructs to pick up rock star Charlie Pace from the police and bring his son for his birthday. Charlie says that when he was flying from Sydney today, he tried to swallow heroin in the toilet, and choked on him during shaking. He was saved by Jack Shepard, but Charlie was not happy because he saw something. He saw “love” in the guise of a pregnant girl with whom he was flying. Desmond did not pay attention to it and, while they were driving, Charlie grabbed the wheel and began to steer towards the pier. The car flew into the water and began to sink. Desmond saw Charlie die in real reality. Desmond rescues Charlie and they find themselves in the hospital, where the memories of the classic reality of Penny come to Desmond. He finds Charlie, but he is not going to speak and says that it is better to look for Penny. Widmore sends Desmond himself to justify himself before Eloise Widmore. She says that it’s okay, but when Desmond, having heard Penny’s name in the guest list, tries to look at the list, he says that he is not ready yet. At the exit, Daniel Widmore approaches him. He tells that he fell in love with a red-haired girl. And that he wrote something. His friend, a physicist, said it was a diagram of how to detonate a hydrogen bomb that could be written by a person who had studied physics all his life, although Daniel himself was a musician. Daniel suggested that everything that happened to them should not have happened, and what should happen did not happen. When Desmond asked if Daniel had decided to detonate the hydrogen bomb, he replied that he had already done so. In the end, Daniel says he has a half-sister named Penny, and also where she will be tonight. Desmond meets Penny on the field and, leaving, asks his driver for a list of all the passengers on the plane he was flying in. Then Desmond meets with Hugo, talks to Dr. Linus , then knocks John Locke down and brings Claire to Ilan Verdanski .
