The Day of the Penitentiary System Employees is a professional holiday for the employees of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation . Celebrated March 12th . The holiday owes its date to the fact that on this day, March 12, 1879, the Russian Emperor Alexander II issued a decree on the establishment of a prison department.
Relatively recently, a similar holiday appeared - the Day of Prison and Prison Workers . Celebrated on October 31 . He was introduced by the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) . However, this holiday is of interdepartmental importance, since in the structure of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, each service has a public holiday. There are other holidays: for example, on May 7, employees of the penitentiary inspectorates celebrate their professional holiday, who carry out penalties and penal measures without isolation from society, as well as a preventive measure in the form of house arrest. November 13 is a holiday for employees of the special forces department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
