The Detmold Higher School of Music ( German Hochschule für Musik Detmold ) is a German conservatory located in the city of Detmold (for some time the conservatory also worked in Dortmund and Münster ). It was founded in 1946 as the Music Academy of North-West Germany ( German: Nordwestdeutsche Musikakademie Detmold ), later the name changed several times (the current name has been used since 1987 ). The conservatory has offices in Dortmund and Münster . Since 2003, the Münster High School has been reassigned to the University of Münster , however, in modern reference books, it is still indicated as the “Detmold High School” at Ludgeristraße 1, 48143 Münster .
The origins of higher musical education in Detmold were, first of all, cellist and teacher Hans Münch-Holland , who began to give private lessons in the city in October 1945 and at the same time began negotiations with the city and state ( Lippe state) administrations about the official establishment of the conservatory. Regular classes began in October 1946 .
