Divyadesham - holy places and temples in the Vaishnava tradition of Hinduism , which were sung by holy devotees alvars . They are of particular importance to the followers of Sri Vaishnavism . In total, there are 108 divya deshs, two of which are in the spiritual world - Parama-padam (at the holy feet of God ) and Tiruparkadal (the dairy ocean in which Vishnu lives). Of the remaining 106, 105 are located in India and 1 in Nepal ( Muktinath ).
Followers of Vaishnavism , especially in South India , hope for their life to make a pilgrimage to 106 divya deshas and to reach 2 spiritual divya deshas after death. In each of the 108 divya deshas, the Murti of Narayana is in one of three positions (tyrukolam): [1]
- Kidanta-tirukolam (in a sleeping position) - 27 divya-desam
- Vitrirunda-tirukolam (in a sitting position) - 21 divya-desam
- Nindra Thirukolam (standing) - 60 Divya Desham
At 108 divya deshis, Vishnu stands facing different parts of the world, giving his blessings.
- To the East - 79 Divya Deschamps
- To the West - 19 Divya Deschamps
- North - 3 Divya Deschamps
- South - 7 Divya Deschamps
