Created in 1913 . As of 2007, the number of employees is about 17 thousand, the budget is $ 60 billion. The functions of the ministry include ensuring the rights of workers, improving working conditions, increasing employment opportunities, protecting pension and hospital payments.
Currently, the US Secretary of Labor is Alexander Acosta .
